Hatras Rape Case

With the increase number of crime cases, their is an exponential increase in the rape cases too. The heart breaking Nirbhaya Case of 2012 was given justice few months ago only and now we are here with another rape case. Nirbhaya , which means , a person who doesn't fear anything , is now the name given to the another victim of the Hatras. It's challenging to see people not changing their mentality even in this very long 8 years. 

The Delhi crime case which shook the nation on December 16th , 2012 is still a nightmare for many girls. Now , the heavy hearted crying of  Hatras Case is leading the newspaper and television. 19 year old teen girl was allegedly raped by four men in Uttar Pradesh on 14th September , 2020. She was hospitalised in AMU. And on 29th September,2020 she was succumbed to her injuries.

It's not just a rape. It's again a heavy reminder about the condition of women in India , especially in rural areas. And this case is especially of a dalit family , who were called by the derogatory names. The victim's father confirmed that the rape was done by a upper-caste , Thakur. Agreed bringing caste in all this makes no sense but here it's important because in rural India, caste is still a bigger issue. The caste is not accidental here. It's basic of atrocity here. So please wake up , all upper and lower caste people living in big cities saying caste discrimination is a matter of past.  No, it's a still a bigger issue in rural area. 

Coming to the issue , the police were not ready to register an FIR initially. The police simply refused and said nothing like this happen. Think about the condition now. For them it was all drama. They were said to go away from the station. It's the reality of rural India in which they need to travel miles to go to common police stations of many villages. 

Not even a single policeman were ready to hear about the case. It came into consideration only after the political and media pressure. The body was shifted to a bigger hospital only after these pressure.  

Later on , to avoid more protests with the body of the body , the police cremated the body at 3 in the night against the family wishes , who wanted to do the full rites at the next morning. 

You are reading about this case , but there are millions of cases like this about which you don't even hear about. This is the reality of our country. According to 2019 rape statistics, India recorded an average of 87 rape cases every day. This is the data officially present . And like this there are millions of cases hiding behind the closed room of the home. Men have no fear of raping a woman. They do this openly, especially in rural areas. Everyone knows what happened but no one cares. 

In rural areas , police don't care about anyone. They do not care to register about the case. They harasses the victim and their family instead. They questions their cahracter instead of the enquiring the rapist. They tell family not the file the case because it will bring shame to the family. They even act as a bridge to negotiate money compensation on behalf of the rapists. 

Here I am not accusing the whole police community but many do this. And here is the failure of politicians who are majorly friends of those rapists and policemen who bring shame to nation. Politicians know everything. But they don't do anything for women. They just shed fake tears for the family and play the blame game. They just start blaming the current government. But when they come to power , they do nothing , absolutely nothing. It's the condition of our country now. These all are same from the different parties. They all have done absolutely nothing for teh women.

And now when they lose all hopes. Then we believe the court to give justice. But what to expect from them. The court takes decades to decide a culprit on a case. What hope is left for justice now? Justice delayed is justice denied. 

Please don't look this case as a different one. Like this there are many cases happening around the nation. There are hundreds of women in rural area , facing this everyday. We have a system here which helps the rapist and torture the victims. From top of the country and state to the lowest of the one , everyone is corrupted. Just corrupted. Is there any solution for this now? 

I have given up on system now. It's time to turn the table around. Women should take charge of themselves. They should form the army and burn those rapists alive. The police won't help now. The court won't help now.
